Pakistan's oil-seed export tier in one place

Seven active export SKUs, all clean-graded for crushing-mill or food-pack supply. Click any SKU for full specifications, COA template, packaging photos and country-specific destination notes.

Oilseeds run a different commercial logic from spices: oil content, free fatty acid (FFA), and moisture drive price more than visual purity, because most of the volume is destined for crushing rather than retail. Pakistan's oilseed export tier is a mid-volume player — not the bulk-commodity giant that India is on castor or that Sudan is on sesame, but a reliable secondary origin for buyers wanting Halal supply chain by national law, faster GCC and Bangladesh transit, and the supplier ecosystem to handle phytosanitary, fumigation and ISO 9001:2008 paperwork without re-inspection delays at the destination port. Sesame is the headline export, with white hulled, natural, black and mix all available; flax/linseed and sunflower kernel cover the secondary line; mustard whole seed and castor close out the conventional catalog; and the medicinal oilseed bracket — basil seed (sabja), kalonji (Nigella sativa), fennel pressed for oil — overlaps with the spice and herb category.

Who buys Pakistani oilseeds and why

The commercial buyer profile splits four ways. Crushing mills in GCC, Bangladesh and East Africa take sesame, sunflower, castor and mustard for oil extraction at industrial scale, prizing consistent oil content and FFA over visual finish. Retail food packers — particularly in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Bangladesh — take white hulled sesame for tahini, halva and bakery topping; black sesame for Korean and Taiwanese specialty channels; and natural-mix for Mediterranean dukkah and za'atar blends. Pharma and nutraceutical buyers source flax for omega-3 lignan applications and the medicinal oilseed line (kalonji, basil seed, milk thistle) for capsule and powder bases. Industrial polymer and lubricant chemistry takes castor seed for ricinoleic-acid derivatives.

Pakistan wins on three structural points. (a) The Halal supply chain matters when oilseed feeds Halal-segregated tahini, halva, edible-oil refineries, or pharma extraction lines — GCC, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia all care about this. (b) Karachi-to-Jebel-Ali transit at 5-7 days versus India Mundra at 4-7 (similar) but with diversification value as buyers reduce single-country dependence. (c) The price gap on sesame versus India is narrow (5-12 percent), but Pakistan's processing capacity for sortex-cleaned premium grades is genuinely competitive on Japanese-spec 99.95 percent hulled white. The honest position: India dominates global sesame and castor volume, Sudan leads on raw natural sesame oil content, and Pakistan plays the reliable mid-tier Halal-aligned alternative.

Frequently asked questions

Buyer questions we field repeatedly across oilseed SKUs. Marked up with FAQPage schema for AI-engine citations.

What sesame seed grades does Pakistan supply?
Three SKUs: white sesame (hulled and natural), black sesame, and natural mix. White hulled meets Japanese 99.95 percent purity grade on contract; default export is 98 to 99.5 percent purity, moisture under 6 percent, FFA under 2 percent. Black sesame is bigger by weight in Korea and Taiwan applications. HS 1207.40.
Is Pakistani sesame competitive with Indian and Sudanese origin?
India dominates global sesame export volume (about 25 percent share). Pakistan competes on Halal supply chain by national law, faster GCC and Middle-East transit, and consistent purity grading from Sindh and southern Punjab. Sudan offers slightly higher oil content but suffers logistics disruption; Pakistan is the more reliable Halal-segregated alternative for buyers diversifying away from single-origin India.
What HS codes apply to your oil-seed catalog?
Sesame 1207.40, sunflower 1206, mustard/rapeseed 1205 (low erucic) or 1207.50 (mustard culinary), flax/linseed 1204, castor 1207.30, other oilseeds 1207.99. Each commercial invoice carries the matched line plus phytosanitary certification.
What is the MOQ and packaging for oil-seed shipments?
MOQ 1 metric ton per SKU first order. Standard 20ft FCL holds 22-25 MT of sesame or sunflower; 40ft HC holds 25-27 MT. Default packaging 25 kg or 50 kg PP woven bags with double-stitched mouths. Buyer-branded print available above 5 MT. Crushing-grade castor ships in 1 MT jumbo bags (FIBC) on contract.
Does Pakistan grow sunflower and mustard at export volumes?
Pakistan's sunflower and mustard production is mid-tier — large enough for export to GCC, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and East Africa but not for bulk-commodity North-American or European trade. Sunflower seed kernels (confectionery grade) are competitive into nut-snack manufacturers; mustard whole seed for spice blenders and Indian-style pickle producers. Default origin: central Punjab and KPK winter rotation.
What payment and shipping terms?
30 percent T/T advance plus 70 percent against scanned BL on first orders. LC at sight or 30-60 days for repeat buyers. FOB Karachi or Port Qasim default; CFR/CIF to Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Chittagong, Colombo, Mombasa, Hamburg, Rotterdam, NY/NJ. Transit times 5-7 days GCC, 7-10 days Bangladesh, 22-28 days Northern Europe.
Do you supply organic-certified oilseeds?
Pakistan's commercial oilseed supply is conventional, not organic-certified by default. We do not currently hold EU Organic or USDA NOP certification on these SKUs. Pesticide residue MRL testing is provided per shipment via SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek on buyer request. Buyers needing certified-organic should ask about partner-sourced lots.
What is castor seed used for and what specs do you ship?
Castor seed (Ricinus communis, HS 1207.30) is crushed for castor oil — industrial lubricants, biodiesel feedstock, ricinoleic-acid-based polymers, and high-purity pharma. Pakistani castor ships at 48-52 percent oil content, moisture under 8 percent, foreign matter under 2 percent. India dominates global castor (about 85 percent share); Pakistan supplies regional buyers and diversification orders.
Are these oil-seeds Halal certified?
Yes. Halal certificate from SANHA, JIC or IFANCA-equivalent chain is supplied free above 5 MT per shipment. Pakistan's national supply chain is structurally Halal — relevant for buyers feeding into GCC, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Halal-segregated EU food manufacturing.
